“Police using their power and advantage. That is something that has to be touched on. Those guys are held to no level of standards. They do whatever they want to do and get away with it. It’s bulls—. What is going on in Kenosha right now is terrible. [Black people] … are getting harassed. They are getting beat. They are getting the lowest of the low as far as treatment and respect. They get none. It’s terrible. I now encourage whoever that has a platform and have the ability to send the resources there. Prayers. Time. Love. There needs to just be attention there, because they need it.”

SALUTE SKILLS SUMMIT
SKILLS SUMMIT is a 5-day experience for youth ages 6-17 years of age. The goal for the 2024 summit is to grow to 500 participants (2023 had 275+) The focus of the summit is on: Body, basketball skills and physical fitness; Mind, Financial Literacy and STEM; Character, Teen Talks and Team Building Activities.

SALUTE POSITIVE CHOICES PROGRAM
Positive Choices is an innovative in-school program located in Maywood, IL, within Proviso Township. This transformative initiative is designed to equip students with essential life skills while addressing critical issues prevalent in our community. Our program is built on four core pillars: Violence Prevention and Intervention, Anger Management, Financial Literacy, and Career Development. Moreover, we have a strong emphasis on empowering students to access career paths that African Americans have been historically underrepresented in, such as Accounting and STEM fields.

The focus will be on families who have suffered the loss of a parent or child to violence, families of wrongfully convicted individuals who were recently released from incarceration, and low-income two-parent households that are living below the poverty-line.
